简介: Prince Mydas’ Bio
At a smoky bar in Kingston, Jamaica, music pulsates from the speakers. A five-year old boy, in the company of his grandfather, suddenly feels the music and spins in circles as he dances. This is the day Prince Mydas discovers rhythm lives in his soul. This is the moment that births his intense passion for music, a passion that one day will lead him to script and sing the songs he hears in his head. By the end of his schooldays, he will have made the first step towards a career in music – a self-produced single featuring the ballad “So Lost Without You.” The song is accepted by Jammy’s, Jamaica’s most successful record label.
With the exposure gained from airplay of his single, Mydas was asked to become lead singer for the acclaimed reggae band, Ruff Kutt. For several years, he learned the art and business of music first-hand as the group opened for Shabba Ranks and Patra on international tours. After a professionally unfulfilling move to Miami, Mydas decided to give the New York music scene a try. Past discussions with the acclaimed producer/manager Robert Livingston led to Mydas’ appearance on Shaggy’s multi-platinum album, Hotshot. The song “Hope” was featured on the soundtrack of the Kevin Costner movie, For The Love Of The Game and work began immediately on a collection of songs that would showcase Mydas’ sensual, silky-smooth voice and writing talent.
The result is a tantalizing and sometimes gritty collection of songs that are a testament to Mydas’ story telling and romantic style. The album title, “Made For Stage, is an ode to Mydas’s performing past as lead vocalist for dancehall band Ruff Kutt Crew. Released under the self-owned record label, MOBA Entertainment, which is part owned by long time pal and co-writer/artist Rik Rok and the eagerly awaited journey begins. Slide the disc in and be prepared for a romantic and inspirational roller-coaster ride.
The album kicks off with a straight up in your face, fusion of dancehall-reggae and RnB. The track is titled “Real Hardcore” and features well-known dancehall artist Red Fox. Real Hardcore will most definitely make you dance, bop your head, snap your fingers, or move something. The album swings from mid to up tempo, with titles such as” Let Them Do What They Want, Here Comes The Rain, Hot Like Wha, If You Give It To Me”. The ride slows to a straight RnB/Pop track titled “Saying You Love Me”. This song clearly attests to Mydas’ versatility as a singer and songwriter. This is bond to be a crowd favourite. Mydas takes you through a myriad of emotions throughout the rest of the album, climaxing with the soul searching and pensive “Just Imagine”.
Mydas describes the album as the appropriate introduction to who he is as an artist. “For the first time I was able to make the music that I want to make and totally express myself. I had to make my album with songs that I could picture myself performing live. I am a pleaser, both on and off stage. If my album and my performance please my audience and they feel the have gotten their money’s worth, I am on cloud nine. I truly believe there is a song on the album for everyone at some point in their life. This makes me very happy.” Somehow you get the feeling this is only the front cover of a very interesting book. And if this album is anything to go by, I can’t wait for the rest of the book to be written.
