简介: "There is no chauffer. There is no valet. I ditch the beemer in an alley and step out into the night. Cinched in my heavy metal armor I slither down Sunset, and in my head I can almost hear the boys say, “Fifteen minutes! Where is the broad?” I pull open the heavy door to the dark and crowded club. The sounds of feedback and mindless chatter fill my ears as the boys look up and smile a resounding, “There she is!” FIVE MINUTES. The boys are already dialed in. My stomach turns and I half-heartedly genuflect a “please God, don’t let me forget my own lyrics.” From the house an ominous voice booms: “Ladies and Gentleman, THE HUSH!” In the last moments I search wildly for an exit. There is no escape…and the crash of the drums is a shot of adrenaline to my heart. I am alive again…and THE HUSH falls over the crowd."
-- Jazmine Giovanni, THE HUSH lead singer, from her Nov. 23, 2009 MySpace blog, 'It all started with a phone call.'
The convergence of these seasoned young professionals has resulted in endless creativity and great momentum. It was just this past April '09 that singer Jazmine Giovanni joined the band. Led by lead guitar player Lee Landrum, "the guys" had been playing together just over a year on another project and always recognized there was a certain magic in the room. When that project concluded (Dec. '08) they jumped at the chance to start a new band and immediately began writing fresh material and auditioning singers. It was drummer Blake Paulson who suggested Jazmine, a fellow Berklee alum. It didn't take long for all to realize the combination of their new, unique style of modern rock worked well with her powerful vocals and writing style...and THE HUSH was born.
Within two months they had enough material to play the Hollywood club scene. They booked a show at The Viper Room and rocked the house, pleased the promoter and were invited to open for Dizzy Reed (Guns n Roses) & Friends in August. That night the house was packed; people danced and screamed during their set; fans asked for autographs and cd's after the show. It was on that hot August night that Hollywood took notice of THE HUSH.
While building on-line attention, the band continued writing and moved forward into the studio recording their first EP, Scene of the Crime. The collaborative seven-song cd is a well choreographed dance between music, melodies and lyrics and is a solid representation of what THE HUSH delivers on-stage.
