Celebrating the music of Margie Butler's father, this is a collection of songs Margie learned at her father's knee. On several occasions he was joined by Golden Bough on stage and in the recording studio. Margie's love of all things Irish came from her father and is reflected in the music of Golden Bough. 　　Having toured the U.S. and Europe for the past 35 years, Golden Bough has collected a vast repertoire of music from the many Celtic lands. This recording is a bit of a departure from their more traditional folk songs, as they dive into the Irish-American songbook, music hall numbers and Irish favorites. These songs pay tribute to Bill Butler's talent for singing songs with lovely melodies and music hall humor. 　　 　　Through the magic of digital media, Bill's vocal track was taken from a 1990's recording of "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling". Instrumentation and Margie's vocal were added, creating a father and daughter duet, a proper ending to "Songs My Father Sang".
