The Brutality of Reality

简介: Black Cat grew out of the turmoil that surrounds most bands. Struggle, turmoil, changing members, break ups, apathetic club owners and club goers. Not finding major label interest, the band has had to DIY, coming up out of their own pocket for money for recording gear, outside producers and mastering labs, photographers, magazine ads, manufacturing CD's, the works. Since most of the songs are written by Don and he is a guitar player, the songs are primarily guitar driven. The band's calling card though is probably their singer, Sebastian. The first album, "Black Cat", was noted for having good songs. Music Connection Magazine even went so far as to say that one song, "This is Me" was so good and so commercial that "any publisher who'd turn this down should be put to death" if they didn't snap it up for some lucky rocker to make their own personal anthem. That' s pretty strong stuff for a band's first album and says a lot about the quality of the songwriting. The band cites as their influences, Metallica, Audioslave, Velvet Revolver as well as all the classic greats like The Doors, Led Zepellen and Van Halen. The love to slather in layers of guitars to get a nice thick sound and Sebastian is meticulous about getting a great vocal performance. Don and Vic were in a in the late 90's called y2K which also was known for its great songs. Both bands have played all around the Los Angeles and Hollywood club scene including the Roxy, The Central, Paladino's, The Joint, Universal Bar & Grill, Fourteen Below, Studio Suite, Weber's and Molly Malone's. They've even played some parties and pizza joints along the way! (Hey, who hasn't?) With the current EP "Brutality of Reality" Black Cat wanted to put out their 3 most political songs in time for the ongoing political season and let their message be heard and maybe make a difference in the National Elections. Somebody needs to stand up musically for the Middle Class, the 99% and Black Cat wants to be that band. Hopefully, this EP disc will stir up some interest in the band and whet people's appetite for the rest of the album that, hopefully and with a little luck, will be out by late Fall 2012. It's gonna be great and we hope you like these songs as much as we do.
