简介: Critically celebrated but commercially ill-fated, Blow-Up was compared endlessly to Mott the Hoople, the Velvet Underground, Bob Dylan and/or the New York Dolls. Making their debut as teenagers in the final days of 1977 at the infamous Masque, they became a fixture on the L.A. scene, first recording for legendary indie Bomp Records and later providing key songs for the motion pictures Up the Academy and Flashback.
Easy Knowledge LP (Polar/Greenworld, 1984) enjoyed much college radio airplay and critical acclaim, appearing on year-end best-of lists from the likes of top critics Mikal Gilmore and Robert Christgau. Nominated as "Best Underground Band" at 1987 L.A. Weekly awards alongside Jane's Addiction and Social Distortion.
Groovy Dynamite Heavy Wow (XXX Records) is an excellent compilation of tracks from the 1980's version of Blow-Up. The songs were culled from the Easy Knowledge disc, the Flashback movie sessions, and various live performances. Originally released in 1992, this is the first time it's been available to the digital market. The core group (Christian Super, Jody Worth, and Pat DiPuccio) worked with an assortment of band members and producers to create a unique rock and roll sound that set them apart from the other L.A. bands at the time.
