简介: From the backroads of his native Texas to Music City, Broadway, and concert halls around the world; Gary Morris is known foremost for his God-given voice. The Queen of England asked to shake his hand following a concert; Olympic gold medalists skate to his music; and every U.S. President since Jimmy Carter has requested a performance.
Beginning in the early 1980’s, Morris produced twelve albums which spawned sixteen Top 10 singles and five No. 1 hits, including Wind Beneath My Wings, The Love She Found in Me, Baby Bye Bye, 100% Chance Of Rain, and Leave Me Lonely. Morris then broke new ground with his enormously successful self-produced acoustic album “Plain Brown Wrapper;” far preceding the “unplugged” genre that is so popular today.
In 1984, Gary Morris’ original rendition of Wind Beneath My Wings won both the CMA and the ACM Song of the Year Awards. Never one to rest on his laurels, and at the height of his Nashville recording career, Morris boldly opted to play opposite Linda Ronstadt in a production of Puccini’s Opera, “La Bohème.”
He was the first American to play the heroic Jean Valjean in Broadway’s “Les Misérables” which brought him resounding critical praise including a Drama Desk Best Actor nomination. Morris' acclaimed rendition of Bring Him Home anchors the platinum-selling Grammy Award-winning International cast album.
An induction into the Walkway of Stars, Country Music Hall of Fame; the Tex Ritter Award; and accolades as the host and producer of TNN’s top rated show, “North American Sportsman” followed, as did numerous television show guest appearances including “Designing Women,” “The Colby’s,” and the PBS special which he hosted and produced, “The Art of the Tretyakov.” With numerous honors, along with a bevy of hit music, Gary Morris has made a name for himself with millions of music lovers.
