简介: GYPSY ROSE From the cafes of Amsterdam, to the beaches of Angourie. From singing back-up vocals with a tongue-in-cheek country band, to performing world music tunes at the basement in Sydney with an a Capella group. From solo and duo acts in country and inner-city pubs to local and interstate Folk and Arts Festivals. Julie-Ann has really covered some musical ground. Whatever the country or the gig, her sweet soaring melodies and powerful lyrics mysticise and seduce her audiences. What has now come together is - Gypsy Rose! A strong rhythm section has formed over the past 12 months, thanks to Peter Fahd on bass and Ivan King on drums and percussion. This has produced more new sounds and added yet another dynamic to the songs. After having been embellished with a beautiful spirit and atmosphere, thanks to John “Willow” Williamson on electric guitar for the last 18 months, this has now been replaced and this atmosphere continued, with Wayne Rigby on saxophone and flute. So Gypsy Rose are on their journey. The past 12 months has seen them performing live at The Marquee Club for the Music Oz Awards, the Manly Boatshed and the Harp at Tempe, supporting Sophie Serafino’s band - Violesque. Julie-Ann and Gypsy Rose also performed at The Coogee Arts and Music Festival, supporting Arabesk and Kush Cabaret. Back in October last year, they performed at an Arts and Music Festival in Yamba, on the far north coast, called - Surfing The Coldstream.. In December last year, Julie-Ann and Gypsy Rose featured on songwriters across Australia. With a live interview and the opportunity to perform 4 songs live in the studio, Gypsy Rose was then broadcasted in February this year to over 40 country and regional stations across Australia. Julie-Ann released her debut EP Goin’ Somewhere in early 2004, she has recently been busy in the studio with Gypsy Rose, recording some demos for an album next year. They have just released their self-titled, 7 track CD, featuring some of Julie-Ann’s new material, and presenting some of the tracks from her first EP, recorded live in the studio with the full band. Gypsy Rose weaves a haunting energy throughout their audience. “The magic of a beautiful moment can be a second or a lifetime”. Come and let them take you on their musical journey!
