About Ollie Collins.
Ollie Collins hails from Manchester, England. Ollie was introduced to music making by his older brother, back in the days when synthesizes and drum machines dominated and electric basses were brought to the foreground of the mix.
After subsequent years listening and performing Rock & Pop, Jazz, Latin, Funk, R&B and Americana with artists and groups as diverse as Alan Parsons, Branford Marsalis, Bob Mintzer, Cherry Ghost, Jersey Street, Curiosity Killed The Cat, New Order and Angie Palmer. Ollie, together with a carefully assembled group of musicians from Manchester and London has produced a brand of music, homing in on those experiences and influences.
Groups and artists such as Japan, Brand X, Thomas Dolby and Level 42 have always been a strong production reference for Ollie and in this record “A New Direction” these ideas have been coupled with a dash of “lead bass” style reminiscent of Larry Graham, Marcus Miller, Jaco Pastorius and Stanley Clarke.
All beautifully packaged with artwork and photographs produced by the artist.
