简介: "Vamos tocar um tema?" Let’s play a tune? Yes, tema usually translates as theme, and tune may refer to a melody, a song, but in this title I want to evoke a sense of a musician inviting others to play, and that’s how Brazilian Jazz players say it in Brazil.
Tema is the first album for some time for which I’ve decided to record my music, my tunes, my temas only. These are temas from different moments of my life.
There is something that I always say to people: “My impression is that when composers are very young, they express great spontaneity, but sometimes do not have enough musical maturity to be able to organize ideas as they can when they are more experienced.”
Some of the musical ideas on this new album are from my early days back in the 60’s, and/or partnerships from different moments, which I have redeveloped with new arrangements or made new bridges and or even new changes (chords) for the original melodies.
To present all this in a contemporary way required not only a certain amount of creative work but also a wonderful team of musicians that came to join me on Tema.
Everything in a total Brazilian Jazz atmosphere and counting on Leo Amuedo (electric guitar), Claudio Spiewak (acoustic guitar, electric bass and additional Samba percussion), Marcelo Martins (soprano sax and flutes), Jorge Helder (double bass), Rafael Barata (drums and percussion), Armando Marçal (percussion) and Hugo Sandim (additional Samba percussion).
