简介: "Joy tackles some heady subjects in a very accessible way. Now that's rare." - Laney Goodman of NPR's Women in Music "Joy has one of the best voices I've heard in a long time!" - Lis Lewis of Los Angeles' Singer's Workshop "In a field known for its egocentric prima donnas, Howie Anderson is one of those rare virtuosos who comes off more like a Clark Kent than the stereotypical self-absorbed guitar hero" - David Brighton of Space Oddity "[Howie Anderson]… is one of the finest guitarists I've ever worked with" - Spencer Davis Howard Anderson and Joy Burnworth have been performing freelance for years. Joy has sung on records with Eddie Money, Larry Bagby and Mitch Forman (Pat Metheny). You can hear her voice in the movie "The Secret." She has opened for Pat Benatar, Buffalo Springfield and BJ Thomas singing her original music. Joy has also performed at the Oscars and Emmys during their Governor's balls. Howard Anderson is the lead guitarist in the band The Strawberry Alarm Clock. He has song writing credit on their new up-coming album. He works with Country-Americana artist John Walmsley from the hit family TV show The Waltons. Together they are Anderson. It's Joy's hometown, Anderson, Indiana which provides the inspiration and muse for her lyrics and it's Howie's last name. Perfect! Under Joy's name, as the solo artist, they have 2 albums. They performed these songs all over the Los Angeles area as well as the seaside town of Ventura. In addition, their music was played on Laney Goodman's Women in Music Show on NPR, College Radio and Web stations before they took a hiatus for Joy to raise her then small children. When they decided to start up the music again, a band name seemed like a fresh start. Usually it's the other way around, right? Singer starts with a band then goes solo. After doing a few shows recently, they realized they had an irresistible magic between them and they decided on the band name Anderson, from here on out. Joy writes the lyrics. She and Howie write the melodies. Howie comes up with the incredible harmony that makes the songs anomalous to the duo. Aqua Gardens is acoustically based instrumentation with Howie's unique voice on the electric guitar, Joy's soulful voice laying down the syncopation and phrasing that is all her own and intricate vocal harmonies only Howie could masterfully create. Returning on bass is Dave Keif. He laid down the grooves on Joy's solo records and he is at it again on Aqua Gardens. Dave not only came up with his own bass parts and he helped rearrange several of the songs. He's been on the faculty of MIT, Musicians Institute of Technology for over a decade. Whether it's performing live, in the studio or writing for TV or Film, Dave Keif is well known in the music community here in Los Angeles. Joy and Howie feel lucky to have him! Performing on the drums is Mike Sandberg. Mike is actually best known for his singing - AC/DC has nothing on him. He has such an amazing range. He sang some backgrounds on the record but the grooves are all his! Howie kept remarking how easy it was to lay down his guitar parts. Not only did Mike play the drums exceptionally, he engineered, mixed and mastered the record. So conscientious, he worked perfecting the tracks on his own time. The record is raw, clear and captures the emotion of both Joy's voice and Howie's guitar playing.
