This music is strongly grounded in the American West. It is cowboy music with a message. Many of the songs tell stories from the writer's own life experience. There are also two poems included. One (Casey's Cadillac) is a humorous account of a game played by bronc riding legend Casey Tibbs. The other (Gaishena) is a spiritual saga of a native American woman in Northern New Mexico. Thirteen of the fifteen tracks are original compositions. The two cover songs are less well-known tunes written by two legendary writers in the Western music genre. Supporting musicians include Jeanne Cahill, Jerome Campbell, Jon Messenger, Mariam Funke, Judy Coder and Cathy Boeker. Co-writers of the original compositions include Les Buffham, Jerome Campbell, Jeanne Cahill and Mike Dunn. One of the songs (August In Arizona) is based on the poem Arizona August by Gail I. Gardner.
