简介: 2017 - Grace Under Pressure’s first single of the year ‘Dear Diary’ is the mental struggle of two inner voices of one mind battling over their secret being revealed. With two multi-instrumentalist vocalists within GUP; Melody Dante and Jesse Slingsby perform an intense internal battle in this song’s back and forth narrative. The remorseful and the desperate come through in Melody’s soprano vocals while Jesse’s rap-rock is reserved for the angry almost factual side of feeling. The single follows the creative path of an almost Evanescence meets Linkin Park sound with some small nuances taken from darker pop acts like Halsey and DJ Rock like USS. The lyric video was created and filmed by the members of Grace Under Pressure and was intentionally produced to focus in on the words of the song due to the nature of the song’s metaphor being that of a diary. From their roots, Grace Under Pressure has grown their musical direction to encompass a unique electro-duet-rock style. With both the luxury and challenge of being a full band of two, their creativity grew in a direction that brought both members to the vocal forefront and spawned a digital vision that their MacBook Pro would play all the other parts that Mel and Jesse didn’t have hands for. They hinted at this line-up advancement in their last song release ‘Drowned (2016)’ and in their last EP ‘Night Time Insanities (2014)’ final track ‘Adio Amor’, where Jesse’s traditionally more supporting vocal keyed forward to create an acoustic rap duet to contrast to Melody’s belting pop-opera vocal presence. With two EPs behind them and a 6-part music video series matching their last (Night Time Insanities, 2014), GUP is developing their third (untitled) EP for Summer 2017 and plans to take their new live show on the road to connect with the emotional creatives of the world and to show those who feel lonely - that they don’t have to be anymore.
