简介: Reimaged Version of "Lighting In A Bottle" with two new Tracks and a DVD with live performance of "Fly Away" and "Southern Rain"!
Singer/songwriter Lina Koutrakos is a Diva for the ages. She sings with amazing spirit, extraordinary energy, and perhaps most exciting of all, a joyous celebration that will rock your soul.
Her powerful band weaves their way from world pop through southern rock to gospel blues in a musical tapestry that has played to rave reviews in most of the top venues throughout Manhattan. Lina has been featured in hundreds of rave, high profile reviews and interviews in many of New York City's major periodicals and The band has garnered fans the likes of Meryl Streep, Kathleen Turner, Tom Hanks and the late Gregory Hines.
This is their second album, an independent release. The first, 10 years ago sold thousands of copies. Lina’s original material is being played on Television nation wide and Radio stations throughout the world, most notably the BBC. Her unique, emotive voice was featured in the critically acclaimed America Undercover HBO documentary “Telling Nicholas”. She wraps up this moving 9/11 film with her own sensitive and flawless rendition of its heartrending closing theme song.
Koutrakos was chosen out of hundreds of her peers to be part of ASCAPS Advanced songwriting workshop and has received accolades on a handful of her original pop/rock songs. The hauntingly sentimental duet “For Now” (a collaborative effort with D.Gross and J. Rodgers) was given a Certificate of Merit from American Songwriter Magazine this past year. As a lyricist, Lina's words become the paintings that allow us an all too brief, nearly visual glimpse into an inner soul and her melodies are spun into “hooks” that leave you singing them over and over. She is the recipient of the Manhattan Assoc. Clubs and Cabaret award, the Village Voice Award for Best Rock Newcomer, and France’s prestigious Petite Piaf Award all for Best Female Vocalist.
Live, Koutrakos takes center stage with a command and presence reminiscent of many rock and roll legends. She can lull you into submission with a ballad, blow you away with a rambunctious chorus , or leave you spellbound with a love song, effortlessly reminding you throughout that she is all woman. Lina- the woman and the voice- is that rare, spectacular bolt of lightning you see dart across the sky on a hot summers night. She will entertain you, make you laugh, bring a tear to your eye and leave you with a beguiling array of visual and auditory sensations. She is a one-in-a-million voice, and together with her hard rockin band, will stand you up in energetic applause and knock you down with emotional passion…. all at the same time.
ABOUT THIS CD: BILLBOARD MAGAZINE SAYS: Someone needs to tell Lina Koutrakos when she sings "Lightning in a Bottle" that the cork has already been sprung. This tornado of a talent ignites a musical maelstrom with every fervent note she delivers, and somehow, she just keeps getting better at it. A razor-sharp, rafter-raising rock virtuoso. At last, she issues a new collection of 11 songs on "lightning in a Bottle" This lady uses her poignant words to teach and her mighty melodies to coach the masses. A welcome return.
New York City's VILLAGE VOICE asks "Why is she not yet a household name?" and THE NEW YORK TIMES replies "Indeed...why isn't she?"
