简介: A pretentious Army recruiter once condescendingly asked Rusty what he was going to do for a career when he got older. "Play my guitar," was the simple reply from the determined and equally smart-aleck teenager. Hours, days, weeks, months of wearing out tapes, learning every James Burton guitar lick ever recorded, quickly paid off for the Moore, Oklahoma native.
The past decade has yielded some great memories and stories, backing up artists such as guitar icon Roy Clark, Larry Stewart of Restless Heart (Rusty "Where did I go wrooooooong" Anderson), Mark Miller (Sawyer Brown)...performing in front of Garth Brooks (ONLY nervous onstage moment EVER!)...even just those late night jams with the guys, pranking and serenading voicemails to some of the music industry's legends (Larry Gatlin 615-862-7540) – "nothing can replace those experiences on the old bus!"
He will be the first to explain though that sharing the stage with "The original Urban Cowboy" is one of the major highlights of his colorful career. "You gotta admit -- getting to play the guitar line to 'Lookin' for Love' as JL leaves the stage every night is just cool...period."
Rusty's 2006 solo release "The Weatherman" is still available on iTunes, but these days he'd rather play all those platinum selling hits of Johnny Lee's to a crowd of thousands than peddle his own material. When he's not wrenchin' on his vintage guitars or shooting his antique guns, Rusty's favorite pastime is hanging out with his wife and son...sometimes at a regional restaurant chain.....that serves the world’s best sweet tea.......but w/o an official endorsement, he won't say where………
