The New Zealand Army Band is one of the most diverse musical entertainment establishments in New Zealand today. As well as fulfilling its official role as an integral part of state and military occassions, the Band enjoys increasing popularity at civilian events, ranging from highly successful school and public concerts to marching displays at International Tattoos, Festivals and Sporting events . 　　 　　Although based on a traditional brass band, the ensemble is augmented by a full rhythm section. This album displays the contrast and vitality of the New Zealand Arrmy Band. As the title suggests it has been recorded in two halves, brass and swing, each one displaying a different performance style.
