简介: A must have for afficianados of the Ambiant New Age Genre. And this is a Limited First Edition, so hurry before the first print runs out.
The concept is:
Everywhere he travels, he records sound out of the window, with a portable DAT machine. He also takes a snap-shot of each window with a digital camera. Two musical themes, one representing a man, the other a woman, interact with these ambiances, so that the music and the couple the music seeks to represent, embark on a voyage, as if searching each other, across all the planet, and beyond......
What is this music like??
This is what the listeners are saying:
I really love *Windows*. It's a very relaxing CD. I wasn't sure what to expect initially - I thought it would be more random sounds than music. I think the sounds are interesting as is the concept but I really enjoy the
music.
I can work to "Windows". This music keeps me concentrated and focused.
I just took a solitary drive this weekend, and 'Windows' was the perfect accompaniment, thanks Steve.
It's almost like a soundtrack. It feels like I'm on a road trip. In fact, it reminded me of the melancholy of scenes of Bill Murray sitting in his hotel room in the movie Lost in Translation.
I am really enjoying the record. I knew that I would just from the few mp3s that you posted on your website (which I also love, by the way), but with the songs all together it is an amazing, moving piece of music. Very peaceful, it makes me feel very relaxed. I also really like all of the different sounds going on aside from the actual piano/guitar/whatever . . . the sirens, water, voices, etc. It all weaves together very nicely.
Steve Nieve - A Brief Biography
Steve Nieve studied composition with Philip Cannon at The Royal College of Music in London. He joined Elvis Costello & The Attractions, in the summer of 1977. After debuting with Elvis Costello on the hit single "Watching the Detectives", his keyboard playing became a crucial component of The Attractions sound on the albums "This Year's Model", "Armed Forces", "Get Happy", "Trust", "Almost Blue", "Imperial Bedroom", "Punch the Clock", "Goodbye Cruel World", "King of America", and "Blood and Chocolate", in the years 1977-86. Nieve was acclaimed as one of the most accomplished musicians to emerge from the Punk/New Wave scene of the late 70's. Nieve continues to work with Costello, both in the studio and on the concert stage.
Steve Nieve has to date released two solo piano recordings; "Keyboard Jungle", on Demon Records and "It's Raining Somewhere", recorded live at the Knitting Factory (Under the name Steve Naive). There is a CD of self penned songs which feature, alongside Steve Nieve, Marc Ribot, legendary New York guitarist, Ned Rothenberg, again New York based avant gardist clarinets and saxophones, and Vincent Segal on cello, a French musician, widely known for his work with pop star M. This record is titled "Mumu" and is available on BMG records, France.
