简介: For the past two and-a-half years, the SKINJOBS have proven themselves as something much more than a bunch of punks creating a racket.... instead... they're creating a sonic revolution! With ex-member of Sparkmarker (toured North America/Europe while on legendary hardcore label Revelation Records) Kim Kinakin on guitar and ex-member of Queezy (Vancouver indie rock darlings) Laura Schultz on drums, the Skinjobs are focusing on melodic pop-rock sensibilities within the genre of the punk and alternative worlds while targeting the un-tapped and ever-supportive queer communities. Taking their name from the cult-classic movie, Blade Runner, and running with the theme into their stage image, the band also added go-go dancers and 'secret' aliases (thus Kim is Mitch Fury, Laura is Lee Hendon, and bassist Mimi Mahovlich is Mason Newlove). Focusing on their vast band experience and strong song-writing skills, the Skinjobs tout themselves as a 'musicians' band with a colourful and entertaining live show. From their over-sold-out first show to their most recent stint on the Homo A Gogo Festival in Olympia, WA; the Skinjobs are surpassing all expectations with an incredibly tight sonic attack/over-the-top live spectacle. With major festivals under their belt (Rock for Choice, Bent, Homo-A-Gogo) and having shared the stage with Propagandhi, Pansy Division, Sook-Yin Lee, Tribe 8 and a slew of indie-punk bands, the Skinjobs have blazed up through the national indie scene with interviews in MaximumRocknRoll (historic punk magazine) and Faggo (North America's essential queer punk magazine). Such a rich history in such a short period of time proves that the Skinjobs are more than a band to look out for, they're a band you can't wait to see and hear again. Catching the attention of producer/engineer Blair Calibaba (Sum 41, Gob, By A Thread) put the Skinjobs in the studio for their first demo and then back again to create their rock'n'roll debut, Burn Your Rainbow. Recruiting the in-band design talents of Kim Kinakin (Sum 41, Avril Lavigne) has translated the Skinjobs unique on-stage presence to a CD cover that jumps from the shelves and screams "We're queer and we're recruiting!" from across any room. So impressive was the recording that the CD caught the interest of not one but THREE labels (Agitprop!, Spitshine and Bongo Beat) who all agreed to work together and co-release it, creating a broad promotion and marketing plan that covers the East and West Coast of the USA and all of Canada as well. CD advances have caused such a stir that the Skinjobs will be embarking on a select-city North America tour in the spring of 2003 to coincide with the CD's release - cities include Toronto, Boston, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle and Vancouver. Whether it be with their catchy music, anthemic lyrics or their over-the-top live shows the Skinjobs will definitely make everyone want to rock, roll and put their hands in the air. Spoken Word bonus tracks: The Skinjobs Burn Your Rainbow CD also features 4 prominent spoken word artists from the literary / performing arts community... specifically: Trish Kelly (publisher of the Make Out Club), Michael V. Smith (Cumberland on Cormorant Books), Morgan Brayton (30 Helens/producer of the Vancouver Comedy Festival), and Kim Kinakin (publisher of Faggo) - as produced by Way Out West and programmed on Pride Vision TV. "Skinjobs rock, are catchy as hell too, and their lyrics tackle queer issues in a way that's smart and funny. Great job...Skinjobs!" Jon Ginoli (Pansy Division) "still on tour, in burlington, north carolina. loved the skinjobs and looking way forward to your performance in april." email from Roddy Bottum (Imperial Teen/Faith No More) "Skinjobs are an exuberant and exciting band from B.C. that mixes politics, humor and good ol' rock. Plus, the kids love them" De (Tablet, Seattle)
