简介: Formed in the late 80's/early 90's, Sir Duke is a hard rock quartet based out of Brooklyn, NY. Rising from the ashes of independent recording artists Tora! (an unsigned favorite featured on New Jersey's popular WSOU (89.5 FM)radio), they graced the stages of world famous tri-state area rock clubs (L'Amour, China Club, Studio One, Red Spot, etc...). It was not uncommon to find Sir Duke opening for such notable acts as White Lion, Zebra, Robin Trower, Tyketto, Dee Snider/Widowmaker, Loudness, Danger Danger, Babylon A.D., TT Quick, etc...
Sir Duke's songs, while featuring first-rate musicianship, still maintain a sound with mass appeal. Unlike their contemporaries of the time, the band's lyrical content reflects a more mature subject matter than the characteristic sophomoric themes of the day... yet never overlooking the fun and good times the music is meant to deliver.
Known for their exciting and powerful live performances, Sir Duke garnered a loyal following that remains faithful even today (as evidenced by seldom reunion shows). Recording a full length CD with the expectations of self-release in 1993, it seemed certain that success was destined to cross paths with the band. Unfortunately, with the demise of the popularity of the hard-rock genre in the mid-90's, the release of the CD never saw the light of day... Until now! After years of waiting, the Sir Duke CD is available for your listening pleasure. Beautifully re-mastered by renown engineer Roger Lian (of MasterDisk Studios), the songs have taken on a new life well-suited for the current state of rock music.
While Sir Duke still plays the occasional show, the members are always staying active musically. Guitarist Paul Poulos went on to record and tour with such artists as Pist.On and Lordz of Brooklyn. Mike Roberto can be caught recording and playing with his bands, Baby Daddy and Lee Roy Smilee in the NY area. Rick Treese can be found playing keyboards in Spoiled Rotten around the NY area.
