简介: George Braith is a legend in the field of modern progressive jazz! He commands an uncanny and absolutely phenomenal knowledge and use of harmonics which is rarely, and often not at all, evidenced in modern jazz music today. George Braith is an inventor, an innovator and a serious scientist of jazz music. As an inventor, George has created an instrument that is comprised of two in one!. He has successfully combined soprano and alto saxophones which are appropriately called the Braithophone. This instrument shall soon be found in music stores in every country on this planet! As an innovator, George has developed the phenomena of “Boptronics”. This term, George told me, “is the conjunction of improvisational jazz and the use of electronic virtual instruments.” Going back many years ago, I discovered upon my arrival to New York City, a very happening place called Musart. It was located in the Soho area of Manhattan. George was the owner of this wonderful club and forum for modern jazz. Here you could dine and enjoy the breathtaking magical atmosphere with many fantastic famous musicians. Chief among them was the late great Albert Dailey, one of the greatest jazz pianists of all time. Then there was the late great Khalid Yasin, Larry Young, who would also frequent Musart. One afternoon Larry was playing George’s Fender Rhoades piano in the loft. I knew Larry to be an accomplished organ virtuoso, but I had no idea of his absolute mastery of the piano. On the label of this CD you can see a little guy who appears to be about five years old. It’s George. He is one of the greatest human beings I have ever been blessed to know. A whole lot more could be said here, but suffice it to say that the “proof of the pudding” is in the actual experience of Boptronics as an unforgettable adventure into the realm of the infinite. George has been kind enough to help a lot of aspiring musicians including myself. The information I am providing is but a small token of my appreciation for his existence and continued source of inspiration for everyone. Carl Maynard Jr., Indeanapolis, Indiana
