简介: In 1994, on a Mother’s Day (without my Mom) I graduated from Tuskegee University and, later that day, married my Gene-Gene in the campus chapel surrounded by my friends and family. I wondered what awaited me as we traveled to Chicago the next day. We were young and naïve about what the commitment we had just made would require from us. We really had no idea what we were getting into!
Fast forward 15 years… It’s been a process and a journey! We are amazed by where our lives have taken us. We have watched each other mature into our roles as spouses and parents. We have combined our energies to create four handsome young men and are humbled by what we learned about ourselves personally and one another. We have set goals for ourselves and then had to learn how to work together so that we could actually see them become reality.
We are most grateful because we have grown as human beings and are better than we were fifteen years ago. We love more sincerely that we did fifteen years ago. We are more patient than we were fifteen years ago. We have grown in our knowledge of our potential individually and as a couple. We have a greater understanding of the purpose of the challenges and struggles we have worked through over the years and can see how God continues to work it all out for good because WE LOVE HIM MOST OF ALL! Not only is He holding the moon and stars in place and keeping the earth in orbit around the sun, but HE also actively works as the bonding agent that is holding our marriage together and allowing us to prosper.
When a man and a woman enter marriage, they embark on a life long journey. It is divinely designed to create a closeness and a connection between two hearts that are committed to one another. Married love must be persevering and relentless if it is to be satisfying and fulfilling. It brings excitement and pleasure. This love is exotic. It is full of passion and God blesses it. When the flame is a little dim and intimacy seems to be dwindling down to a flicker and fading away, we need to spend some time getting to know each other again. That’s when it’s time to get together and get away for a few days, a night or just a few of hours for a Lovers’ Rendevous.
