Jonathan Moritz – tenor, compositions 　　Nate Wooley – trumpet, compositions 　　Ken Filiano – bass 　　Mike Pride – drums, compositions 　　 　　 Recorded with Jamie Saft at his Frank Booth Studios in April of this year and featuring original compositions from the group’s two leaders, Jonathan Moritz and Mike Pride, Doin’ It All For My Baby (the group’s second disc following 2004’s self-titled, self-released debut) showcases four of New York’s most estimable musicians, jazz or otherwise playing music that drummer Pride has described as “ranging from introspective chamber-jazz to destruct/reduced post-jazz.” Each of the group’s members is known for having a broad sonic palette and this adventurous release makes use of all of their respective talents to a more-than-satisfying end. 　　 　　JONATHAN MORITZ is a graduate of CalArts and currently makes his home in Brooklyn. He has released a half-dozen records as a leader under his own name on labels such as ElasticCo and J.A.S. Possessed with a sound that balances the be-bop tradition and maintaining a unique voice, Moritz currently works frequently with other young improvisers in New York, such as Chris Welcome, John McLellan, James Ilgenfritz and Shayna Dulberger. 　　 　　MIKE PRIDE is a native of Maine and since moving to New York City in the early part of the decade, he has worked with as broad a range of improvisers as any other musician, including William Parker, Anthony Braxton and Eugene Chadbourne, and many more. He also leads his own groups including the MPthree with Trevor Dunn and Mary Halvorson and Dynamite Club with Evan Lipson and Kentaro Saito. 　　 　　NATE WOOLEY was born in Oregon and completed his studies at the University in Eugene. In the time since, he has become perhaps the most adventurous trumpet player on the planet. When one listens to Wooley’s recordings, they are hearing pure acoustics, but the ears may think otherwise as a textural melee of scrapes, scratches and hisses emerge from the instrument. However, Wooley is equally adept at playing more conventionally and he has demonstrated both sides through work with Paul Lytton, Anthony Braxton and Kevin Norton, among others. 　　 　　KEN FILIANO is perhaps best known as a frequent collaborator with West Coast reedist Vinny Golia, however, his career has also included stints with Warne Marsh, Richard Grossman, Dennis Gonzalez and many others.
