简介: A year in the making, John Ford brings forth his latest CD release -- Resurrected (The Best Of and Then Some) with new, previously unreleased tracks, as well, a collection of select songs from his previous 10 Solo releases of the past decade. Highlights of the album, are on a personal note, including Ford’s title-track, “Resurrected” and “Acoustic Sunrise.” Both songs highlight Ford's superb vocals, lyrical ability and instrumentation, are also inspirational love songs, fusing lyrics and music into expressions of love, admiration, appreciation for a special woman's inspiration, love and support to him, leading to his rebirth, renaissance and spiritual regeneration leading to the albums' conception. CD includes fantastic cover of "Perfect Day." For contrast, Ford delves into his past, with two new tracks, "The Crying Game." His alter ego surfaces in "Going Back." Resurrected's album cover pays tribute to an image inspired by BANKSY, famed London street artist. John Ford has also picked up the ukulele which will be heard on new recordings and adds a charming new element to his music. A LIVE John Ford DVD /CD planned for 2012. ©2012 Whole Shot Records JOHN FORD BIO: As a British singer, songwriter, guitarist, bass player, producer and recording artist, John Ford’s talent has made an enduring impact in music through the years. Ford’s versatile live performance easily shifts from Solo acoustic to fronting a full electric band and has played, toured and shared the bill with other music legends as Santana, Jimi Hendrix, Ritchie Blackmore, Dave Mason, Eagles, Frank Zappa, Marc Bolan, T. Rex, Blue Oyster Cult, ZZ Top, RUSH, REO Speedwagon, King Crimson, Lynyrd Skynrd, Billy Preston, Cat Stevens, Roy Harper, Ian Lloyd (Stories) and many more! John Ford also performed with Ritchie Blackmore and Candice Night in Blackmore’s Night and appears on “Wind in the Willows,” on Under a Violet Moon CD. Ford, a teen heartthrob, wrote his first hit, “Mistletoe Love,” as bassist, singer and songwriter for Jaymes Fenda and the Vulcans on Parlophone Records, John Ford went on to join Elmer Gantry’s Velvet Opera (aka Velvet Opera), who opened regularly and at times, mistaken for Pink Floyd on the UK club circuit. Ford’s unusual percussive style of bass playing caught the eye of Strawbs leader, Dave Cousins, with Ford joining Strawbs in May 1970. The Strawbs, primarily known as a Folk Rock group, with John Ford's influence, shifted easily into the Prog Art Rock Scene, also included Rick Wakeman, on synth/keyboards (later replaced by Blue Weaver). John penned the Strawbs biggest hits, “Heavy Disguise,” and “Part of the Union,” a UK Top of the Pops Chart Hit at #2, on Bursting At The Seams, spending 59 weeks on the UK Album and Single charts. Popular worldwide, and still a favourite with Union workers to this day. Produced by Tony Visconti for A&M. John Ford has received a Platinum and three Gold Records, in addition to an Ivor Novello Award for his songwriting achievements through the years. Leaving the Strawbs to form Hudson Ford, releasing five records and more hits, “Pick Up the Pieces,” ”Burn Baby Burn” – an early “green” song, “Floating in The Wind,” whilst on A&M. In 1979, John Ford formed The Monks; a British punk rock band signed with EMI, and back on the Charts again with surprise hits, “Nice Legs Shame About The Face” from Bad Habits, followed by Suspended Animation with both Album and Single going Gold. Ford also satisfied his penchant for 30s style music as founding member and songwriter of the band, High Society, before relocating to the US in mid 80s. John has reunited with the Strawbs for UK Tours in the 80s, 1998, 2001, 2004, 2006 and the September 2009 Strawbs Anniversary Weekend at Twickenham Rugby Stadium which also included Rick Wakeman, original UK Electric Line-up keyboardist in London which filmed and recorded for CD/DVD release later this year. Also in 2009, John was awarded Best Indie Rock Artist of the Year by the Progressive Rock Hall of Fame. John Ford is featured on 2008 DVD - Lay Down With The Strawbs, from the 2006 Strawbs Spring UK Electric Tour. John Ford also appears on DVD classics - Strawbs Live In Tokyo '75 & GRAVE NEW WORLD, The Complete Strawbs - Live at Chiswick House, in addition to nine solo records on Whole Shot Records and dozens of recordings John appears on with the Strawbs, Hudson Ford, The Monks, High Society and his other band projects and sessions. Big Hit In India, his ninth Solo album in 2008 since moving to the states from the UK in the late 80s, features twelve of his latest, greatest songs, an array of styles to fit many genres from Rock to Pop. 2011 brings a forthcoming CD, Resurrected with some new and previously unreleased tracks, as well, a collection of select songs from his previous releases of the past decade. John Ford has also picked up the ukulele which will be heard on new recordings and adds a charming new element to his music. Ford has also been collaborating on a new recording project underway with Ian Lloyd, founding member and lead vocalist of the band, Stories most known for hit Single, “Brother Louie” and heard on Foreigner and Billy Joel albums, to name just a few. Catch them both in upcoming live shows.
