简介: Music has always been a major part of David Ford’s life. He was born in Memphis TN, home of the blues, surrounded by music. Both of his parents were skilled musicians who encouraged and fostered the musical talents of their children. At twelve David picked up the guitar and branched out from his family, singing in choral groups. After consistently playing and singing for the next six years, David took up piano, continuing his study at the University of Memphis. In the late seventies he met Bob Talley who taught him about arrangements and assisted him in structuring rehearsals for artists. This experience gave him the knowledge and tools he would need when he went on the road with his first wife Cybill Shepherd and her band, Fred Ford, Harold Mabern and Jamil Nasser. He would also serve as Cybill’s principle rehearsal guitarist and join them on stage at Reno Sweeney’s in New York. The couple divorced in 1982. They had one daughter, Clementine, who moved with her mother to Los Angeles. Shortly thereafter David also relocated to L.A. to help take care of her. From 1985-1987 he studied harmony and theory at Dick Grove School of Music in Studio City, CA. While bartending in the valley David met the woman who would become his second wife and two years later moved with her to the Santa Clarita Valley. The couple had two daughters, Aisling and Courtney. David took a break from performing publicly to focus on raising his family and, for a time, build a business. He never stopped playing at home, passing his love and passion for music on to his three daughters. In the mid-90’s, at the request of some very persistent regular customers, he began to play Jazz Sundays, which he established with Susan Rey, Mark Bacon, and Marcelo Berestovoy at his Santa Clarita restaurant, City Club. David Ford is more than just a singer, he’s a true performer. His infectious spirit and energy keep audiences coming back for more time and time again. He plays events and venues all around the Los Angeles area, currently playing a regular gig Sundays at Salt Creek Grille in Valencia. Over the years David has performed with many notable, talented musicians, including: Keyboardists: Ric Mandell, Mark LeVang, David Edelstein, Gary Nesteruk, John Pramik Guitarists: Jim Fox, JohnDePatie, Harry Orlove, Tom Kolb Bassists: Kirk Smith, Michael George, Bob Feldman, Ron Suffredini, Stan Sargeant Drummers: Jake Jacobs, Bernie Dresel, Jimmy Carnelli, Makoto Izumitani, Derek Syverud
