Tornado was created in 2009 shortly after a tornado hit lead singer / bass player Eliot Gordon's house in south Minneapolis on August 19th. Gordon had teamed up with Klaus Dakota, the drummer of his previous project Danger Boy and the Road Vultures, along with Boston transplant Guitarist Thom Jennings. Robbi Grunke soon was on the organ with Sonja Silvernail playing the violin. With Mae Devitt joining the group in early 2010, Tornado was able to find their sound. 　　The debut Tornado album / Ep - The Jucy Sessions - was recorded by Nate Collis, guitarist of Atmosphere, in June 2010.
