Hi lovely people, my name is James McCarthy, a singer, songwriter, and saxophonist from Boston Massachusetts. I would describe my sound to be a mix of pop and blues - leading to write a collection of soulful originals in my EP "Inside Sunrise". I've been working relentlessly on my music since I graduated from UMass Amherst, focusing on learning from my heroes Stevie Wonder, John Coltrane, Michael Jackson, and John Mayer. 　　 　　The purpose of my desire to be an original artist is simply to connect with people. To express myself and for others to connect, understand, and feel accepted is why I continue to play. I've always loved pure emotion in music, which is what I try to include in my songs like "Over My Head" or "Inside Sunrise", creating moments in the music that listeners can get lost in. I create pop melodies that people can really get into, but I try to present it from a jazz or blues perspective. I've always believed that simplicity sells and it's the way you play rather than always playing technically correct. 　　 　　I play often at clubs in Boston, I've played seriously for about a year and I'm excited to use this EP as a tool to further grow myself as an artist.
