简介: Dreamy cello + dark beats + smart emotional lyrics = the Luke Janela sound on "Midnight Door".
The accumulation of a year spent on the backroads of America writing material and camping it's hidden corners, "Midnight Door" is an album about change and motion.
Being the product of a year long road trip, "Midnight Door" encompasses various landscapes, from the commotion of the city, to the vast desolation of the American road.
The album is split into four parts:
South sounds sun filled, and dusty, touched by mystery.
East is rumbling with urban excitement,
North is dark, mysterious and windswept,
and West is home, the destination, the beginning and the end.
Luke's unique application of the cello drives the sound of "Midnight Door". Listeners are immediately struck by Luke's adaptation of the classical instrument to non-classical genres.
Luke's distinctive cross-genre approach to the cello has prompted many songwriters and bands to use him on their albums, (Aaron Ross, Mariee Sioux, Jeffrey Clarke, and many more) and you can hear his signature sound clearly in this album.
Midnight Door is Luke Janela's finest work to date. It is an accomplished, smart album full of genuine revelation and innovation.
"Luke Janela... writes amazing music. Recorded, his voice is rich and honest, glimmering with harmonies, and buoyed by beats and the shivering pull of the cello..." - Portland Mercury.
"Luke Janela is a dear, quietly strumming his guitar and singing with a melting gumption, or bowing his cello so vibrantly, and with such spot-on intonation, you'll be swooning by the end of his set... clean, endearing optimism ripples through his music, and it is neat." - Julianne Shepherd
