简介: For those of you who wonder what Maria Del Rey was up to before she became an internationally acclaimed, Latin Grammy nominated children's artist and producer...check out her first album.
Maria was fresh out of college and had already played cello with the Miami Philharmonic when she decided to pursue her career as a singer/songwriter. She had been writing songs since she was 7, so it came easily and it looked like a lot more fun than sitting in the orchestra pit waiting for someone to die so she could move up a 'chair'.
Maria conquered Los Angeles and quickly rose to become a leading, bilingual, studio session singer whose distinctive voice was featured on thousands of commercials over 40 Gold and Platinum Latin music albums.
It was time for new explorations so together with her longtime production partner, James Schaller, they 4-walled a theater in Hollywood and debuted the material on this album.
The music features many influences of Maria's Latin and classical roots over the pop sensibilities of Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush, who were two of Maria's strong influences at this time.
The recording was about 10-12 years ahead of its time with a loose electric/acoustic feel, innovative use of cello and bilingual songs.
Maria went on to record a hit in Japan (in Spanish and Japanese), became a Mom and decided she could contribute her many talents to make exciting children's music - that parent's would also enjoy! Her next album, 'Lullabies of Latin America', won every award in children's music and was nominated for a Latin Grammy.
