Amongst the successors were nueva cumbia artists who, even more than the Nuevo tango avatars, became prominent with their Botoxed basses and mutated voices, the worthy successors of this retro-futuristic alchemy. In 2011, the clocks are set on La Revancha en Cumbia, a bunch of bootleggers who knead the sounds of the dense Argentinian tradition and break them down in their big mix: Tremor, Bomba Estéreo, Chancha Via Circuito, King Coya, El Remolon, Fauna, Axel Krygier, Frikstailers and El Hijo de la Cumbia. This rowdy crowd has been spreading havoc around the Buenos Aires nightclubs with its broken rhythms, creating its own version of the tracks from La Revancha del Tango.
