by Scott YanowFor this New Orleans session, vocalist-pianist-lyricist Mose Allison utilized several top local but world-class musicians: tenor-saxophonist Tony Dagradi, guitarist Steve Masakowski, bassist Bill Huntington and drummer John Vidacovich. Among the new songs introduced at the session were "Ever Since I Stole The Blues," "You Call It Joggin'," "The Gettin' Paid Waltz" and "My Backyard." Allison, who is heard in top form, revived "That's Your Red Wagon" and "Sleepy Lagoon" and sounds in good spirits throughout this enjoyable and typically philosophical outing.
