The Warmer Side of Cool does have its moments, notably the synth bass-led "Snakedance," featuring Vinnie Colaiuta on drums; one of Jack Hues' finest ballads, "When Love Looks Back at You"; and the title track, all of which conjure up good, melodic rock. The final stretch -- "Tall Trees in a Blue Sky" and "Big World," in particular -- is a little closer to Wang Chung, mournful ecological eulogies with a strong chorus featuring Toto's Jeff Porcaro.
