by Ron Wynn 　　Demure Brazilian vocalist Astrud Gilberton became a hit artist in 1963 with the song "The Girl from Ipanema." She recorded it with her husband Joao Gilberto, plus tenor saxophonist Stan Getz and Antonio Carlos Jobim. The resulting bossa nova phenomenon eventually got her a solo album, this 1965 work. With songs by Jobim and his participation as well, The Astrud Gilberto Album has some charming moments, and proves Gilberto was ideal for the light bossa nova sound. Highlights include "Agua de Beber," "Dindi," and "Once I Loved."
