O Passo Do Lui

简介: by Philip Jandovský O Passo do Lui was the 1984 follow up to Paralamas' debut Cinema Mudo -- an album which sold reasonably well and lent the group two minor hits, trough "Cinema Mudo" and "Vital e sua moto". Passo do Lui however became the band's big break through and the band's ticket to a place in the spot lights. "Óculos", "Meu erro", "Ska" and "Romance Ideal" all played very frequently by Brazilian radio stations. Compared to Cinema Mudo, O Passo do Lui tilts more towards pop and ska, as opposed to the (new wave) rock sound on Paralamas' first release. The touches of MPB and traditional Brazilian rhythms that Paralamas would add on subsequent albums are not yet present here, so the sound is much more basic, but not less enjoyable, Brazilian new wave pop, which was so typical for the first half of the 80's.
