"Heyday" is the Church album that immediately preceeded the band's U.S. breakthrough "Starfish" and the huge single "Under the Milky Way." And while the album doesn't contain anything as catchy as "Milky Way," it is probably closer to the sound and feel of "Starfish" than any other Church album. Containing thirteen tracks and nearly an hour's worth of music, it is also the most substantial of the band's early recordings. The highlights include the bizarrely titled "Myrrh" and "Tantalized" that also appear on the band's most recent Best Of album, along with the startlingly pretty instrumental "Happy Hunting Ground," and another lovely ballad "Disenchanted," and the oddly rocking "Columbus." The rest of the material is consistent with plenty of atmospheric guitar work, spacy melodies and perfectly oblique lyrics. 　　 　　 　　Overall, "Heyday" is one of this longtime veteran Australian band's better early albums
