Yung Gleesh was born Asa Asuncion in 1989. He grew up in Washington, D.C. and, before becoming a rapper, he was a percussionist in TOB, a go-go band he co-founded. His first forays into rap came in the early 2010s with a series of raw and unfiltered singles and mixtapes.
