Justin C. Gilbert, an Atlanta native, has captivated the hearts, ears, and souls of all who have listened to his unparalleled musical stylings. Justin realized his musical destiny at a young age. He started playing the drums at age 2 and against his will began taking basic piano lessons at age 6. Much to his surprise, he later developed a partiality to orchestral music. In fourth grade he was introduced to yet another instrument, the cello. While still playing cello he began playing orchestral percussion instruments with the symphonic band. Although he had familiarized himself with several instruments, he had an undeniable affinity towards the piano. He began honing his skills at his family church, where his father was the pastor. In 2005, he graduated from Omnitech Institute with an Associate's Degree in Production and Audio Engineering.
Realizing that hard work always pays off, Justin is now living what was once a dream. Gilbert has been blessed to touch the lives of many with his gift while touring and performing alongside renowned artists such as, Jay-Z, Eminem, Anthony Hamilton, Anita Baker, Tank, Marsha Ambrosius, Ledesi, Kem, Jennifer Holliday, Donnie McClurkin and Tyler Perry's – ("Madea Get's A Job," I Don't Want to Do Wrong," "A Madea Christmas," and "Aunt Bam's Place"). Justin is currently on World tour with Justin Timberlake & the Tennessee Kids. This fall he can be seen serving as co-musical director along with Adam Blackstone for BET's, The McDonald's 365 Black Awards.
In addition to the works he has produced for others, he is now stepping into the fore front with his debut album entitled "Aligned". This project is described by Gilbert as a collection of great melodies coupled with timeless grooves. This work also includes several cinematic pieces. The album is slated for release first quarter of 2015.
When asked about his most memorable musical experience, Justin stated, "Performing at the 2013 Grammy's with Justin Timberlake." He recalls that the energy from the Staple Center was electric. "I knew from the first down beat that this experience would be one for the books." Justin Timberlake and his band gave a stellar performance.
Justin C. Gilbert is becoming nationally recognized as a prominent producer and composer. With over 10 years of professional musical experience, one would wonder how Justin remains humble, faithful, and steadfast. As it relates to music, he states, "If it's not honest, it doesn't matter. If I don't feel it, I won't be able to deliver it with the proper sensitivity." He takes great pride in making music not only a sound but a feeling for the listeners, as he believes that:"Music is life. There is a sound for every emotion. Every song should be an experience. Music is the ultimate form of communication. Music is life. Music is my life."
