Tom Purcell, aka Wave Racer, first came into the electronic scene two years ago with his debut release ‘Stoopid/Rock U Tonite’. After playing a string of tour dates that saw him support the likes of Disclosure, Chromeo, and most recently, Porter Robinson, he now returns with the title single from his forthcoming debut EP Flash Drive, due to drop 16 October 2015, featuring B▲BY.
Taking cues from cross-continental club and production standards, Purcell’s blend of pixelated future-funk is fast taking the world by storm. From mind-bending Jersey Club anthems to a sun-drenched take on modern hip hop instrumentals, his sound is often (and best) described as driving down Mario Kart’s Rainbow Road to the club of your dreams.
Since releasing ‘Stoopid/Rock U Tonite’ and follow up single ‘Streamers’ – the 9th most played track at Triple J in 2014 – Wave Racer has also churned out a series of standout remixes, including Ryan Hemsworth, Duke Dumont, Foster the People, Flight Facilities, and Panama.
