Cristian Mandeal was permanent conductor of the George Enescu Bucharest Philharmonic Orchestra from 1991 – 2009. During this time his recordings gained international acclaim, and in particular his 1997 nine-CD set of Brahms's orchestral works, issued to commemorate the centenary of Brahms' s death.
