Lung. James Ellaway a.k.a Lung is a DJ and producer from Cardiff. A friend and collaborator of High Contrast's, Lung signed exclusively to Med School in 2011 and has not looked back since. Crafting beats at a variety of tempos on the electronic spectrum, his debut release "Afterlife" and subsequent remix by Kryptic Minds arrived on Kokeshi and captured the imagination of the dubstep fraternity. His Med School debut "Relapse" landed on the labels "New Blood 011" compilation and in the same year he delivered a stunning remix of "Yikes!" by London Elektricity. Several releases followed in 2012 including "Rollerball" and "Accidentally On Purpose" on Hospital Records' "Sick Music 3" and "Sub 150" compilations respectively and collaborative efforts "Red Rhythm" (featuring Joe Syntax and Eleven8) on Med School's "Blood Pressure" compilation and "Not Waving, But Drowning" (with Jessy Allen) on High Contrast's 4th studio album "The Agony & The Ecstasy". 2012 also saw the release of Lung's first solo EP on Med School, the sublime "Why Does Anyone Ever Do Anything?" featuring Rachel K Collier. Lung is pushing his sounds even further as he puts the finishing touches on his debut artist album due out on Med School later this year. Ably assisted by collaborators such as Rachel K Collier, Sunchase, Paper Aeroplanes and Phaeleh, the album is certain to cement his reputation and versatility as a producer. Lung is a prodigious talent on the decks as well as in the studio and is at home within the realms or dubstep, drum & bass or the sub-genres in between. He will be bringing his sounds to Fabric, Lovebox, Global Gathering and Brixton Academy this summer, so make sure that Lung is on your radar.
