Pedro Botero’s origins can be traced at least as early as 1976, as Pedro Botero y Las Infamias del Pecado. A band called Pedro Botero took part on Festival Bocata Rock Compilation (Columbia, 1980) with a track called El Maca. The lineup for this song was Abel Bartolomé, Aurelio Colás, Dámaso Casans, Merry The Clown & Jesús Barcelona, and they probably didn’t play heavy metal back in that day. In fact, Abel Bartolomé and Aurelio Colás were relatives with Rubén Bartolomé and Charlie Colás, both musicians involved in the first heavy metal lineup for the self titled album in the mid 80s. The first heavy metal recording by this band is a live version of the song Canción para John, appeared on I Muestra Pop-Rock y Otros Rollos de Zaragoza 4 cassettes compilation (Xirivella Records, 1984) The stylistic evolution of the band’s career went from the traditional heavy metal they played in their first two albums, to melodic hard rock and AOR in their last two. The band split between 1994 and 1995 but reunites to play in special venues some times every year.
