Marcos Zeeba is a singer-songwriter that brings a taste of rock to lyrical songwriting. His songs are meaningful, but often sardonic, meant to lighten the more serious conversations about relationships and matters of the heart. His sound echoes the calm optimism of Jack Johnson and Ben Harper, but adds a seductive pop-rock reminiscent of early Maroon 5, Paolo Nutini, The Kooks or The Strokes. Born in San Diego, California, Marcos moved to São Paolo, Brazil at a young age where he studied guitar and eventually began writing music at 14. He returned to the US at 19 to study Music Business at Musicians Institute in Hollywood, CA. While in Hollywood, Marcos joined the alternative-rock band Bonavox as rhythm guitar player and a contributing songwriter. The band performed throughout Southern California and was selected as one of the 3 finalists in the 2014 GRAMMY Amplifier Competition, which led the band to showcase at SXSW and to open for Allen Stone in San Diego, Los Angeles and Las Vegas. In 2015, Marcos has shifted his focus to his own songwriting and will release his first EP, “So Complicated” in May. The EP discusses love and the complexity of relationships, but brings a punk rock energy and sometimes sarcastic tone that takes the pain out of heartbreak and inspires listeners. With “So Complicated,” Marcos offers lyrical alt-rock songs that mean something, but still force you to get up and dance.
