出生于台东，来自大武乡大鸟村的排湾族原汉混血。
2011年以《秀秀》 一曲获李宗盛李吉他创作大奖赛冠军，并以木吉他弹唱的温柔形象被听众所认识。首张EP《似是而非》，以流行、蓝调及抒情等曲风初试啼声，2019年发行二张EP 《SPIKY》以更生猛的摇滚曲风，描绘他眼中的世代风景，深受威权遗绪启发，对于功利社会的描写与批判。
2020 年疫情爆发后，Giyu 开始转而专注刻画记忆中家乡的风景与人物，然而因爲在街上听到一首族语创作的流行歌，勾起他既熟悉又陌生的语言记忆，同时思考流行音乐作为文化载体的力量，伴随著身份认同的思考，他想用族语创作的想法渐渐萌芽。
成长过程中游走于都市与原乡、 曾反覆对身份认同感到困惑， 不会族语、也没有自己的传统服饰，对于单纯拥有原住民身份却不懂文化的自己，Giyu 时常在两个族群裡感到格格不入，而这几年在学习文化，追寻脉络的过程中，逐渐拼凑出家族历史的记忆，历经寻回家屋族名，跟小学生一起线上学习排湾语、再到慢慢的部落参与，Giyu 回头挖掘自身文化脉络的同时，他开始以加上排湾族重量的身份往前创作。
近年以族语创作接连拿下PASIWALI 创作大赏和原创流行音乐大奖的奖项后，Giyu 在渐渐融合过去的风格后开创出一条属于自己的全新音乐之路 ——
以个人生命经验将“身为”与“成为”原住民之间各种当代议题，身分认同、族语断层、族群迁徙⋯⋯揉写成一首首彷彿听得见沿途风景的歌曲，首张族语创作专辑《云就要翻过山》走往更接近口语的低音的声线，以内敛的情感与深具文学性的词句，唱出生命的厚度。
Giyu gained recognition for his gentle image as a folk song singer-songwriter after winning first place in the 2011 Lee Guitars Song Writing Contest. His debut EP, “The Seemingly” explored various styles such as pop, blues, and ballads.
In 2019, he released his second EP, "SPIKY," which adopted a more intense rock style and delved deeper into the autocratic history of Taiwan, self-reflection in a capitalistic society, and how every choice made is based on one's deepest love and fear. With his sophisticated lyrics and authentic, down-to-earth vocals, Giyu brings the sadness and anger in his eyes towards modern society to the audience's ears
In his latest release , his first album, titled " The Wind That Found Me " Giyu departs from the intense states of his previous works and embraces his subtle vocal tone. He describes the hometown scenery and character sketches from his memories, finding the pieces of his multi-ethnic and indigenous self-identity.
