Croatian bass-baritone Marko Mimica is a graduate of Zagreb’s Academy of Music, Croatia. He was a participant in the 2011 Salzburg Festival’s Young Singers Project and, in 2013, reached the final of Cardiff Singer of the World.
He took part in the Accademia Rossiniana in 2014 where he sang Lord Sidney in Il viaggio a Reims. He returned to Pesaro’s Rossini Opera Festival in the summer of 2015 as the Podestà (La gazza ladra), and in 2016 as Douglas (La donna del lago) in a new production by Damiano Michieletto. In recent seasons, his engagements have included Raimondo (Lucia di Lammermoor), Alidoro (La Cenerentola), Frère Laurent (Roméo et Juliette), Don Basilio (Il barbiere di Siviglia), the title role in Le nozze di Figaro, Ramfis (Aida), Oroveso (Norma) and Banco (Macbeth), as well as his work on the concert stage.
