by Drago BonacichSpanish singer/songwriter Antonio Vega got involved in music while attending guitar classes with his brothers, Carlos and Ricardo, at the age of ten. In 1977, while in the Spanish military service, Antonio Vega composed one of the classics of a local new wave movement known as La Movida Madrilena, a song called "Chica de Ayer." A year later, he joined Nacha Pop, signing with Hispavox in 1980 and releasing a self-titled album. After the group disbanded in 1988, Antonio Vega decided to start a solo career, recording his first album, No Me Ire Manana, in 1991. Two years later, PolyGram released El Sitio de Mi Recreo, featuring Antonio Vega's "Ansiedad," a song made for the movie soundtrack for Boom Boom. In 1994, Phil Manzanera produced his Oceano del Sol record, followed by 1998's Anatomia de una Ola and 2001's De Un Lugar Perdido, which was produced by Nacho Begar, released by Chrysalis, and nominated for a Latin Grammy award.
