I tried to paint a picture on a Canvas

But was lacking tools for it

Went out for inspiration under nightskies

Where the streets were moonlit

I met you on the dancefloor

Running through the backdoor

Shaking our bodies like polaroid pictures

And it felt

Like we're on top of the world

Looking down at all the silly people

Living all their ordinary lives

Now I know it was true

Far too high

For our own good

But that's ok

I woke up the next morning

Tried to visualize it

Slipped like water through my mind

How could I not remember

All the things about that night

Wanted to feel that high again

So I poured out my coffee

Smoked my last cigarette

Waited until dawn then went out again

Saw you in the background

Hanging at the same club

You met my eyes and grabbed on to me

And it felt

Like we're on top of the world

Looking down at all the silly people

Living all their ordinary lives

Now I know it was true
