简介: Beek(eeper) has been making tracked chip ( & non-chip ) tunes since the mid 90's. His tunes stem from the origins of chipmusic when it first found a context outside of original gaming platforms: the demoscene. Influenced by an array of music from Middle Eastern, Jazz, Balkan, Hiphop, Pop, Folk, Funk, Videogame, and of course tracked (demoscene) music, a complex yet catchy variety of tunes is the result. Enjoy. "When it comes to chiptune, most artist's pride themselves on how "authentic" they are. One of the easiest ways to discredit a chiptune musician is to question their composition methods and how they create their songs. This issue only addresses how authentic a track is on a software level, but few people actually discuss how authentic a song is on a compositional level. Anyone could realistically throw melodies over beats with 8-bit synths and say "this sounds like NES music," but few people can compare to composers such as Koji Kono and David Wise on the same level classical composers are compared in their compositional style. I mean, sure, anyone can compose melodies for an orchestra and say "this sounds like Mozart's 25th" just because it's the same instruments, but in the classical world, when people say two composers are similar, it's based more off how the sounds come together. For this reason, Beek is without a doubt the most authentic chiptune artist creating music these days. This is what really makes Beek unique in the chiptune scene." -- AskariNari 7/4/2012 "There's something wonderful about 8-bit module music done right. Demoscene artist Beek has been writing chip music since the mid-1990s, and his excellent mastery of the genre shines through in "7bit Date: Robot Love". This twelve-track album is a pleasantly retro joyride, chock-full of catchy tunes and lovely production." -- Feryl 2012 "Fresh out of Ubiktune, classic tracker composer Chris J. Hampton has just released a new album just in time for Valentine’s Day. Also known by his alternate moniker beek, this 8-bit veteran has appeared in various Ubiktune releases such as Around Past and Wintertunes for a while now. beek’s 7bit date: robot love sacrilegiously pushes the chiptune genre over the edge, in a frenzied flurry of chip sounds that manages to make our ears happy. Marked by retro influences from the ’80s and ’90s, beek’s work is a total blast to the past, actively transporting the listener to a time when chiptunes were prioritized as primary sources of composition and arrangement." -- thasauce.net 2012
