Soul and pop singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Brandyn Burnette was born in Boca Raton, Florida, the son of Capitol Records R&B artist O'Bryan, who hit the Billboard charts in the 1980s with "The Gigolo." Growing up surrounded by his father's music and influences, Burnette learned to play the piano at the age of seven. He turned to the guitar when he was 13, and began writing songs that, in his words, bridged soul and pop, putting him in the same musical generation and in the same loose musical direction as artists like Jason Mraz and Bruno Mars.
