A sultry-voiced, '90s hip-hop/soul-influenced singer and songwriter from San Francisco, Rozzi Crane began her quick rise as a neo-soul vocalist while still a teenager. In 2009 at the age of 17, she released a self-titled EP and later enrolled in the University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music. During her freshman year, some of her original songs were licensed for a Lifetime cable network movie, 2010's Sins of the Mother, and she earned spots touring as a backing vocalist for Don Henley and Sergio Mendes. In school, Crane met Jacques Brautbar of the power pop band Phantom Planet in a songwriting class, began a writing partnership with him, and eventually came to the attention of Maroon 5's Adam Levine, who signed her to his new 222 Records label in 2011. The following year, she was invited to sing on "Come Away to the Water" for The Hunger Games soundtrack with Maroon 5, a song written by Oscar-winner Glen Hansard and produced by T-Bone Burnett. She toured with the group in 2013, playing large venues including Madison Square Garden and singing Christina Aguilera's part on the band's hit "Moves Like Jagger," something she continued to do in years that followed. She also performed live in support of acts including Gavin DeGraw in 2014, as well as headlining. A four-track neo-soul/pop EP titled Space was released in early 2015, featuring Levine on the song "Painkiller." ~ Marcy Donelson
