N’to was born in Marseille and learned how to play the guitar when he was ten years old– a passion that is still alive 30 years later. In his work there still is a strong connection to Rock music as seen in his collaboration with Red Hot Chili Peppers (“Scar Tissue” remix). British music duo Underworld later inspired him to listen to electronic music and eventually producing. Since 2004 he is not only a DJ and live act but also music producer – and his musical repertoire is very diverse. He enjoys Deep House and Tech House just as much as Techno and Minimal, which has earned him releases via Parquet Recordings, Delicieuse Records, Inlay Recordings, Voltaire Music and his own record label Hungry Music. Recently, he recorded a new liveset that will be published by trndmsk as their 45th podcast– following the episode by Mira and Chris Schwarzwalder.
Chilling at home or dancing in the club
“I have been playing live for several years now”, says the French producer, “and that’s why it is very important to me to constantly work on it trying to create new experiences for the listeners.” Also, he always produces new tracks to reflect the developments he has undergone during all these years. All the tracks included in the live set were recorded separately at his studio in Paris. “Only my machines and my dog are allowed in the studio”, says N’to with a wink. “When I play live I always try to give a ‘punchy’ lift to the tracks. I like the idea that my originals can either be listened to chilling at home, or dancing in the club!” One of his favorite tracks is “La clé des champs”: “It is the main title of my last EP on Hungry Music. It has a special meaning to me and I think you can feel that in the melody”, says the producer who hopes to release his first album next year.
