Joel Culpepper (born 26 May 1984) is a singer-songwriter from South East London. 　　Culpepper released his debut music project The Adventures of Pensmith (mix-tape) in 2009, which was written and produced in just two weeks. 　　In 2011, Culpepper released his second mix-tape, Joel Culpepper Meets J Dilla, a tribute project to the late J Dilla.This generated considerable interest amongst bloggers and music fans, successfully showcasing Joel's strong song-writing skills and quirky vocal style. 　　2012 saw Culpepper release his debut EP Skydive, a project that was well received by fans and critics alike,and the first single off the EP, Passenger, was championed by Annie Mac, DJ Target and most recently Mistajam. 　　Culpepper often collaborates with and has featured on Swindle's album Long Live The Jazz, and Bruh Jackman's California. 　　Culpepper's most recent single Pilot Light was released on Monday 7 July 2014 alongside b-side Some Nights. Culpepper was BBC introducing artist of the week during the month of June 2014. 　　May 2015 saw Culpepper support Brit award winner Paloma Faith on her Australian tour. Joel is also working on a new EP entitled 'Tortoise'featuring production from the likes of Jimmy Hogarth, Morgan Nicholls and Roy Davis Jr.
