Michel Kiener was born in Genève, where he realized his musical studies obtaining the prize of piano virtuosity and harpsichord with Louis Hiltbrand and Isabelle Nef. He continued his studies in the Conservatoire Sweelinck of Amsterdam with Anneke Uittenbosch and Gustav Leonhardt. 　　Parallel to his activity as harpsichord player, he has developed an enormous interest for the technique and sonority of the pianoforte from the XVIIIth and XIXth century. He possesses two typical instruments of the Vienna school: a copy of an instrument Antón Walter (Vienna 1795), realized by Christopher Clarke, and the original Johann Fritz (Vienna 1813) whose sonorities are admirable for the whole repertoirte between Haydn-Mozart and Beethoven or Schubert. 　　His activity inside the chamber music or the Lied they have led him to working with musicians like Christophe Coin, Pierre Fournier, Erich Höbart, Enrico Onofri, Jaap Schröder, Gilles Golliard, Gustav Leonhardt, Pierre Hantaï, Patrick Cohen, Jan de Winne, Jennifer Smith, Marta Almajano, Guillemette Laurens, Max van Egmond, Hervé Lamy, Quartet Mosaïques... 　　He collaborates regulary as soloist with Il Giardino Armonico and the Ensemble Il Gardellino. Regulary is invited by the Soloists of Moscow and the orchestras of the Foundation Gulbenkian, Suisse Romande, Würtemberg, Chamber of Munich... 　　Your concerts have taken him for all the European countries as well as South America and Orient. Between his recordings they find J.S. Bach's works (Variations Goldberg, Concerts ...), C.P.E. Bach, Rameau, Haydn, Mozart, Schubert, Beethoven... He is founding and an artistic counselor of Amarcordes. Since 1977 he is a teacher in the Conservatoire from Genève.
